For months Elliot has lamented the losing of teeth. When will he lose them? Will he be 5? 6? Will it hurt? Will it take long? When will it start?

It started.

Tonight at dinner he says that his tooth hurts. So, I reach across the table fully explecting to pull corn kernal out from between his teeth.

His tooth wiggled.

I wiggled it again.

My eyes welled up.

When I told him what was happening a huge grin spread across his face.

Here’s Elliot, in what might be the last photographic evidence of this particular smile. An all-baby tooth smile.

My older one was 8 when he finally lost his first tooth. I thought he was going to DIE with the waiting as all of the other kids had already lost several by that point. But what a smart mom for taking this last shot…

That makes me so sad….they have to stop growing up. What a great idea to take a final pic! I will have to remember that. Of course, Mason will probably be 10 before he starts. I still had baby teeth in 6th grade!

It take The Minion FOREVER to lose teeth. A couple months for some. He’s started losing molars now, at this rate he’ll be in highschool when the final ones fall out. He keeps his teeth. In a little box. I thought is was a bit odd, until I remembered I did the same thing when I was little, with plans of making a necklace. At least I know where he gets his strangeness.

Look at those straight teeth. That didn’t happen in our family.
