Moments to Make a Mother Proud

Last night we had an entirely enjoyable dinner at a friends’ home. She made a wonderful desert of melty chocolate inside wonton skins with a pile of melted chocolate for dipping. Audrey found the chocolate dipping sauce to be delightful. So delightful, in fact, that she had it all over her face and shirt and skirt. In the interest of not making her clothes messier than they already were, I stripped her down to her diaper.

She ate more chocolate smearing it on her stomach, face, hands and legs. When she was finally done Peter wiped her down, took off her chocolate covered diaper, told her not to pee and sent her toward me. I was sitting on the couch chatting with our lovely hostess when I looked up to see Audrey. Naked. And peeing. On. The. Carpet.

Tonight at dinner we continually reminded Elliot to get his finger out of his nose. As soon as he was excused from the dinner table Audrey promptly stuck her finger in her nose. We told her to take it out. She did. And then stuck it back in. I moved her hand. So, she put my finger in her nose.

I’m bursting with maternal pride.

Retired, sort of

I’ve left the corporate world. I’m now a SAHM. This is the toughest job I’ve ever had. But man, do I love my bosses.
